Casualty fans were left up in arms after beloved nurse Robyn Miller was given an offscreen funeral after 10 years on the BBC One medical show.

Last week, viewers were forced to pass round the tissues after the fiery redhead (played by Amanda Henderson) was involved in a deadly road traffic accident which sadly took her life after her colleagues failed to revive her.

During Saturday’s visit (March 25) to the Holby General, fans struggled not to shed a tear as they prepared to bid a final farewell to the long-running character.

But the biggest disappointment for fans was when Robyn’s funeral took place offscreen, with doctors rarely mentioning her memorial onscreen.

It didn’t take long before viewers flooded to Twitter to share their frustration with BBC bosses after missing out on a final goodbye to the fan-favourite character.

One user penned: “Please tell me they’re not just skimming past Robyn’s funeral #casualty” as another asked: “So we’re not getting an on-screen funeral for Robyn then... #Casualty.”

A third chimed in with: “An offscreen funeral for a character of 10 years? Robyn deserved better. #Casualty.”

Meanwhile others predicted the main reason the decade-long character didn't get a proper send off was because her former co-stars over the years were unable to make it back for the occasion.

One account fumed: “I knew we wouldn’t get to see Robyn’s funeral on screen, there are SO many character’s who have left who would’ve went to her funeral and they probably didn’t want to try and explain why all the characters weren’t there. #casualty.”

A fifth added: "I'm assuming they couldn't get people like Lofty, Max etc. to come back, so they just didn't bother showing the funeral???? #Casualty."
