Miss Universe committee denies Saudi model's claim of participation, sparks controversy

ALBAWABA - The Miss Universe organizing committee denied a Saudi model's allegations that she would compete in the competition's upcoming autumn edition.

The regulator said in a statement that "no selection process was conducted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia" and that "any such claims are false and misleading," as reported by the American CNN network.
Rumy Al-Qahtani, a Saudi model, declared that she will compete in the tournament and represent her nation, Saudi Arabia, on September 28, 2024.

When word got out about Rumy Al-Qahtani's involvement, it quickly spread among bloggers, eliciting comments from both proponents and opponents of the engagement.

Rumy Al-Qahtani has previously competed internationally as a Kingdom representative in a number of pageants, including Miss Asia Malaysia, Miss Arab Peace, Miss Europe, Miss Arab Unity, and Miss Middle East.

Rumy Al-Qahtani is proficient in Arabic, French, and English and has a bachelor's degree in dentistry.
