CityVet, a network of 59 veterinarian-owned practices offering programs serving people through pet care with kindness for over 25 years, has announced the grand opening of its second Charlotte Metro clinic in Marvin. Located at 9923 Rea Road in Marvin, North Carolina, the clinic will officially open its doors on May 27 under the leadership of local veterinarian and owner Dr. Sandra Welsh.
The new clinic will offer a full range of veterinary services, including preventive care, diagnostics, general and advanced surgical procedures, and dental treatments. In addition, full-service grooming will be available on site.
CityVet Marvin will be owned and led by local veterinarian Dr. Sandra Welsh, who brings more than 30 years of experience in small animal care. A 1991 graduate of the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, she previously served as lead veterinarian and medical director at a highly regarded practice in South Charlotte. Known for her empathy, clinical excellence, and ability to form strong bonds with pet owners, Dr. Welsh is excited to bring those same values to her new CityVet location.
In addition, Dr. Welsh has a special interest in geriatric care and is particularly passionate about elevating the veterinary experience for cats, an often underserved group in traditional practices. She is committed to creating a welcoming, stress-free environment for feline patients and their families, fostering a reputation for thoughtful and inclusive care.
Having raised her family in Marvin, where she lived for over 20 years, Dr. Welsh has deep roots in the community and still considers it home. “Although we moved after our kids were grown, returning to Marvin has always been on my mind,” said Dr. Welsh. “It’s the kind of community that stays with you, and I’m so excited to be back and serve it in this new way.”
Dr. Welsh credits much of her journey to the support and culture she found at CityVet. Instead of feeling like part of a large corporation, she says the organization feels more like a community, one built on kindness, collaboration, and genuine investment in each veterinarian’s success.
“From day one, every person I’ve met at CityVet has been kind, supportive, and incredibly generous with their time,” said Dr. Welsh. “Whether it’s sharing their phone number or reaching out just to check in, the culture here is unlike anything I’ve experienced. It’s a community of people who truly want you to succeed and that’s made all the difference.”
That sense of personal support and purpose is centered around CityVet’s mission and continues to guide its growth.
“Every new clinic we open is more than just a location, it’s a reflection of our mission to care for pets, empower veterinarians, and build stronger communities. Dr. Welsh brings a rare combination of clinical excellence, compassionate leadership, and deep-rooted ties to Marvin. We couldn’t imagine a better partner to help grow our presence in the Charlotte area,” said CityVet president and CEO David Boguslawski.
“Opening our 60th location with a veterinarian like Dr. Welsh, who is deeply connected to the community she serves, perfectly reflects what CityVet stands for,” added CityVet President and CEO David Boguslawski. “Each new clinic is not just another number; it’s a realization of a veterinarian’s dream and a meaningful addition to the neighborhoods we serve. We’re honored to support Dr. Welsh as she brings exceptional care to Marvin.”
