WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - On June 5, 2025, Rahab Ontiveros was arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred at the Love’s Truck Stop off of Central Freeway on May 31.

According to the police affidavit, she and the suspected shooter, Jose Perez, had a history with the victim due to a dispute several weeks ago over vehicle equipment. Both felt the victim should have paid more for it.

The arrest of Ontiveros took place after a man positively identified her as being at the scene that night. Police then searched her residence and found a .22 caliber revolver in a creek bed nearby. Two days before, Ontiveros had asked her son to hide the gun for her according to the affidavit.

This is the second arrest in this case after Perez was taken into custody by Wichita Falls PD after leading police on a high-speed chase.

The affidavit states this all began on May 31 as a drug deal gone bad that resulted in the victim being shot three times at Love’s. The bullets hit him twice in the arm and once in the head.

The victim was supposed to buy methamphetamine, but when the victim’s friend looked closer, he realized it was bath salts according to the affidavit. It goes on to say that an argument ensued, and that’s when Perez pulled the .22 revolver and began shooting the victim.

The victim was rushed to United Regional Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and has since been released, according to police.

Both Ontiveros and Perez are in the Wichita County Jail on a $750,000 bond. Police say they both conspired to commit aggravated assault when they lured the victim to Love’s, as well as cause serious bodily injury to the victim.
