Exergen Supports Nursing Innovation and Education

For the second consecutive year, Exergen is Mission Sponsor of Northeastern University Bouvé College of Health Sciences School of Nursing’s Nurse Innovation & Entrepreneurship program

WATERTOWN, Mass., Sept. 19, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- For the second consecutive year, Exergen is proud to support Northeastern University Bouvé School of Nursing as a Mission Sponsor of the Nurse Innovation and Entrepreneurship program. The School’s mission of elevating nurses’ ability to become innovators and bring their ideas to life aligns with Exergen’s. The company is joined by other sponsors including Johnson & Johnson, Meditech and Massachusetts General Hospital. One of the events, a Nurse Practitioner Entrepreneurship Conference, designed for NPs who want to grow their understanding of the business side of healthcare, focuses on current, effective nurse-led business models.

Exergen Corporation’s dedication to advancing nursing extends far beyond product development. In addition to manufacturing and marketing a professional and consumer model of the TemporalScanner thermometer, the company supports nurses in a wide variety of settings. Attending more than a dozen nurse affiliated conferences and providing online educational tools and certification programs are only some of the ways in which Exergen is hands-on in the field of nursing. The company provides thermometers at no charge for volunteer nurses who are caring for those in need and with serious diseases overseas. Dr. Marybeth Pompei, Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Scientist of Exergen Corporation, is a mentor and advisor for nurses, including the Northeastern University Bouvé School of Nursing Nurse Innovation and Entrepreneurship program.

Not only are nurses on the frontline of patient care, they are the future of healthcare. Billions of temperatures are taken each year and, to deliver optimal patient care, healthcare professionals need a high quality, noninvasive thermometer. Exergen is committed to providing that with the TemporalScanner, which provides critical clinical benefits of accuracy, comfort and ease of use. This makes it a transformational product for healthcare professionals, particularly nurses who are the first to see a patient.

“Success in the nursing community begins with quality care followed by innovation. It is our mission to support nurses’ work and help make their jobs easier and more effective,” said Dr. Marybeth Pompei, Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Scientist, Exergen Corporation. “Northeastern University is committed to changing the way the world perceives nurses and we are changing the way the world takes temperatures. We are excited to join forces again to help nurses fortify and advance skills.”

Nurse, scientist and an entrepreneurial businessperson, Dr. Marybeth Pompei has been a featured keynote speaker for Northeastern University’s Nurse Innovation and Entrepreneurship program. To view the presentation from last year, click here. For more information on the program, click here.
