Angola: Local government system comes up with political innovations

Luanda, ANGOLA, June 20 - The training of staff for the local authorities remains the ruling MPLA party’s top priority, in view of the new political pace the institutionalisation of the local authorities will introduce, said Tuesday the party's secretary general, António Paulo Kassoma. ,

 

 

The politician was speaking at the 6th Methodological Meeting of the party's Department for Staff Policy, underway at Luanda's "Futungo II" complex.

 

He describing the local government system as a great challenge for Angola.

 

Paulo Kassoma said that MPLA is striving to strengthen institutional capacity by raising the efficiency and effectiveness of political and governmental action.

 

The party is focused on permanent strengthening of the skills and competencies of its staff, he underlined.

 

Paulo Kassoma considered human capital crucial for all political, economic, social and cultural changes in the country.

 

According to him, the methodological meeting is an open forum for debate on ideas and the opportunity to make contributions on the guiding instruments for the improvement of party work.

 

The event which is running under the theme "the MPLA and the challenges of the local elections", is also discussing the guidelines for adjustment of the party's strategy to the policy of staff.

 

The event is being attended by directors of the offices and departments of the Central Committee, representatives of social organisations of the party, among others.
